Hello to everyone in the class of 1954 and wish I could come to a class reunion soon. I am fully retired now after raising 5 children and trying to keep up with 13 grand kids. I do have time to play golf three time a week trying to keep fit. I am married and live here in the hills of West Virginia but it sure is not like Bishop and I call it here they are foot hills not mountains. I retired from the Air Force after 22 years in 1980 and all so worked for a burglar alarm Co. doing monitoring and installing systems. After 10 years of that I became an assistant manager of a small convenience store until 1998 when I retired all together to play golf and take life easy. Would love to hear from my class mates sometime.

I've lived in Chula Vista (just south of San Diego) since June 1968. My mom lived with me for 7 years following the death of her husband. After her passing in 2003, I sold my house and moved into a lovely mobile home park (into a 2-bdrm/2bath double-wide) -- up on a hill, quiet and peaceful. I have enough yard to keep me out of trouble, and plenty of room for grandkids and family dinners. I have been blessed with 9 grandchildren (son Doug has 6, daughter Erin 1, and stepson Mike 2 in Boise).
I worked for SDSU for 22 years, "retiring" in 1990 to work for an old friend in his management consulting firm, Leadership Research Institute. I fully retired in 2000 to spend more quality time with mom.
I'm very active in my church, tutor students in reading, enjoy the theatre, and am an avid Padres fan -- yes, I know, sort of like being a bridesmaid.

I married Rusty (Wayne) Marcellin on December 18, 1954 and "pushed him through college" at Cal Poly in SLO... We moved to Livermore and Rusty worked as the Lawrence Livermore Lab's Welding Engineer (He graduated as a Mech. Engr. and I received my PHT degree! - Pushing Hubbie Through! I worked at Sandia.
We have three daughters - (2 daughters, Laurie and JoDee are in the educational field District Office in Santa Cruz County and Asst. Principal at Sanger high school)... The middle daughter, Jaynee, is a married to Mark and has blessed us with twin grandchildren; a boy and a girl in 1997...She is a nurse and lives in Castle Rock, CO.
We have lived in Newark (SF East Bay) for 37 years. Sadly, Rusty went to be with the Lord after a bout with cancer in 2003. I enjoy retreat speaking, preparing & giving workshops, family, friends and adventures! I would love to hear from classmates and friends!

I am on the board of the Foundation for Excellence at B.U.H.S. and its endowment fund chairman. We raise funds to make the educational experience for the students richer and hopefully are making a difference. We are always looking for donations to the Endowment from alumni.

Moved to Oregon in January of '95 from Los Altos, California where I lived and worked for the 32 years prior. My employer in the Bay Area from whom I took an early retirement was Philco-Ford later renamed to Ford-Aerospace then sold to Loral and now a division of Lockheed-Martin. I was a microwave equipment engineer of ground based antenna systems.
I graduated from UC Berkeley in January 1963 with a BS in Electrical Engineering. I was two years in the ARMY at Fort Ord, California from Oct59 through Jan62. I had previously worked between school semesters in '57 for Union Carbide at the Pine Creek Mill as a chemist and later for the State of California Division of Highways at Bishop for a year and a half. I did my lower division engineering college work at San Bernardino Valley College from Sep54 through Jun56.
I was first married in 1963 and have a daughter, Noelle, born in '63 living now in Mountain View, CA (just married: Aug01) and a son, Shaun, born in '66 living now in Sebastopol, CA. (unmarried). I was divorced in 1984 and remarried in 1987.

Linton Wollen graduated in 1954 while his Dad was Principal and Superintendent. Linton married Kathleen Hammond in 1965 and they had two daughters. Both daughters are married and the oldest lives ten miles away. She has given them their first grandchildren, twins Amanda & Andrew born April 9, 1998. The younger daughter and her husband live in Newport, OR and they are expecting in April of next year.

After graduation, I started to work for the Calif. State Division of Highways.
In June 1961, I married Linda L. (Gannon) Wren. We had two children, Richard W. (Rick) and a daughter Karen L. Rick gave us a granddaughter and she gave us a great granddaughter.
While working for the Division of Highways, we moved a lot going to Tehachapi, San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Daly City and finally to San Carlos. After 17 years with the State, I decided to work for a private Engineering and Surveying firm in Redwood City then on to Half Moon Bay.
In 1977 we left Calif. and headed for Emmett, Idaho where I worked a couple of years for an Engineering and Surveying firm in Boise, ID. In 1980 I became a licensed Professional Land Surveyor and I opened my own business in Emmett as Fischer Land Surveying. Because the mountains were getting higher and steeper (age had nothing to do with it) I retired in 1998 and sold my business.
Linda and I moved to Hagerman, ID then on to Twin Falls, ID where we took care of Linda's father for four years. He passed away at the age of 92 at which time we needed to get away for awhile so we became full time RV'ers. We purchased a 36 1/2' triple slide fifth wheel and spent about four years on the road.
In 2005 we came back to Idaho as that is where our heart belongs. we settled in Elk Bend, purchased a lot on the Salmon River and set up a manufactured home. We no longer travel and sold the fifth wheel.
If anyone of you alumni happen to be driving by this way, we would be more than happy to see you and we do have full RV hookup on our lot.

We were married on Aug 4,1956, in the Catholic Church, By Father Badison. I had joined the Navy in Sept of 1955, Graduated from Medical Corps, San Diego, in May of 56. Was assinged to TAD Bremerton Navel facility, With follow up orders to the US Carrier CVA 41 Midway. I was an original Angel Deck refit Plank Owner.

Joined the Navy in 1960 and never had a permanent home until 1988 when I retired and settled on the Oregon Coast. Married Johanne Rysman in 1967 - 2 kids: Rob and Ingrid - 2 grandsons; Will (1997) and Lane (1999). Currently lecture tourists on cruise ships in winter and do charitable work the rest of the time. For anyone who is interested, I have a website at www.alanco.net. It has our address, phone number, and e-mail. Only four people have used e-mail to contact me and only two of those were from the Class of '56 who seem not to be very computer conversant....... Would love a reunion that combined classes of 54-57....... We live in Kingston, Nevada about 200 miles from Bishop. It is a beautiful area in the Toiyabe Mountains at 6200 feet elevation......Our house is open to anyone who would like to visit. Just call first to make sure we are home. We stay in Bishop when we are skiing at Mammoth. We missed the reunion due to date conflicts with Bonneville Speed Week, and with preparation for the Reno Air Races. If the reunion were held in October, we could make it. I am part of a race team at Bonneville with BUHS alumni Dick Funk, Mike Bishop, Don Plummer, and Harry Batchelder. I am also volunteer staff for the Reno Air Races. We volunteer to help keep the old warbirds flying...........

My husband and I live on a little farm 23 miles east of Bishop on Hwy 6. We have lived here since 1976. Wayne retired in 1992 after working for 29 years as Site Superintendent at CalTech-Owens Valley Radio Observatory (locally known as "Big Ears"). I worked for the Forest Service in Bishop for 29 years and retired in 1994. We are really enjoying retirement if you can call it retirement with an alfalfa farm, chickens, horses, mules, sheep and a couple of calves to take care of. We are able to travel and we do lots of camping.
We have 11 grandchildren and 3 great grand-babies. After graduating from Bishop High in 1959, diverse opportunities have given Phyllis a broad range of experience. She worked in the cattle industry, made the first televised footage on the cattle feeding industry, taught modeling for John Robert Powers in San Francisco and taught in the Los Angeles/Watts public schools following the first Watts Riots.
In 1966, Phyllis earned her B.S. in Agriculture Business later the students of California Polytechnic State University selected her as the Poly Royal Honored Alumnus in 1990. "Her inspiring international work developing leadership in areas of hunger prevention, sustainable agriculture and family health in remote Third World communities, as well as for the impact of her books," were given as the reasons for the honor. As a World Neighbors volunteer at the 1992 U.N. Summit in Rio de Janeiro she helped negotiate the food security treaty for non-governmental organizations.
After two of her three children died, she kept a notebook in an attempt to survive. Dylan died suddenly as a baby, while Derek died at thirteen as a passenger on a commercial plane in a fiery mid-air collision. The publication of Grief: Climb Toward Understanding, originally her notebook, is now in the 5th edition and 6th printing and has altered the focus of her life. Today most of her time is spent helping individuals and families deal with their own or a loved one's anticipated death, bereavement, serious illness or injury or other life crisis. Concern for people has taken her into the unusual and vivid landscape of the homes, hearts, memories and the pain of those who are struggling with the loss of loved ones. She is has been in 47 states and 12 nations in the last 3 years helping with critical incindent teams after events like the TWA Flight 800 tragedy and on book tours where she does signings, lectures and radio or TV talk shows.
She and her husband Bill, live in the Los Osos Valley along the Central Coast of California where her business experience includes owning and operating a property management and building renovation firm, as well as managing a family farm. They spent their 32nd anniversary riding a motorcycle over the Alps. Their daughter Dawna runs the family business with her Dad this allows Phyllis and Bill to be out on tour part of the time together.
This past summer, Phyllis camped and helped her brother Pat Armstrong build an airstrip with a team of mules. Their camp was a four-day ride on horseback from the closest accessible road. Pat (BUHS 1963 graduate) is a wilderness contractor and ranches with his wife Merry and 3 children at McCall, Idaho.Her other brother Wes Armstrong, a (BUHS 1961 graduate) is a dentist and lives with his wife Marilyn, a few miles from Phyllis and Bill, in San Luis Obispo.

George Theodore "TED" Rudolph
Expired 10 PM on 16 January 2004 after a long bout with a lip cancer which spread to his larynx and later to his neck. Significant surgery failed to arrest the spread of his cancer. The lesson he sends to all of us is : " If you now smoke: STOP!, If you don't smoke DON'T START!"
Ted served in the US Forest Service for 40 years prior to his retirement. He pioneered the use of GPS Technology in the National Forest for mapping Forest logging roads and recreational trails primarily in the Tahoe National Forest.
Ted is survived by his wife CoNorma in Grass Valley, California.
