¡Hola! ¿Cómo estaís todos? After returning from Sri Lanka, I studied my two passions up in Humboldt: Spanish and Violin Little did I know that they were my passions in High School, but since then, I have developed them through the years. Currently, I am Spanish teacher at Corona del Mar High School in Newport Beach, Ca. I have drug (dragged?) my two little boys (Dylan, 12 yrs and Colin 10 yrs) all over the world with me while working on my Master's in Spanish Literature. Dylan and Colin are awesome (yes, a typical mother, but really they are awesome!), and as we get older, they are teaching me lots of things, mostly how to be cool, and do cool things like razoring, martial arts and boogie boarding. I still take on more than I can handle and I still run and life still never ceases to amaze me.
I would love to hear you all! Darcie
Burnett, Kelly (Vaughn) - E-mail: kelly062@aol.com
My name when I graduated from BUHS in 1980 was Kelly Vaughn. It is now July 2005. I have done a lot of interesting things since graduation. (e-mail me and I will give you the life story). For now, I have been happily married for 6 years to a wonderful man who is willing to put up with me. I have 2 children Curtis (24) and Amanda (21), 3.5 grandchildren Lillyanna (3), Gavin (2), Jacob (18 months) and Haylee (due October 05), 2 stepsons Jeff (35) and Stevyn (20). I live in the San Joaquin Valley, CA. Merced to be exact. I devoted the first 8 years after high school to my children and former husband. We lived in Bishop for a couple of years and then left. I then located to Merced County and have pretty much been here the rest of the time. I graduated from Merced College with a degree in Accounting in 1996 and began working for Merced County Human Services Agency (gasp!! the Welfare Office) in 1997. I have missed all class reunions and have only been back to Bishop once since we left. I would love to hear from any one who remembers me. I have read the postings and the names sound familiar and had to pull out the old yearbook. Boy oh boy did we look goofy back then. Times have changed and so have all of us. Please drop me a line and let me know how you are doing. My e-mail address is: Kelly062@aol.com. Please be sure to identify if you are from the class of 79, 80, or 81 in the subject line as I delete spam and addresses I am not familiar with. I am looking for old friends.
Kelly Burnett.

Hello BUHS Alumni! What a thrill to find this excellent web site! After graduation I went straight to Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. I started off thinking I would be an aerospace engineer, but somehow graduated with a degree in industrial technology, which oddly enough led to a teaching credential, which resulted in a position at Buchanan High School where I teach general science, physics, and advanced placement physics. Thanks must go to Dennis Brackett, Allen Schultz, and Ron Smith for being such great teachers and inspiration. I love being a teacher!
Along the way I married a wonderful and wise woman named Anne, and we've made two beautiful children: Aaron was born July 1, 1993, and Emma arrived on October 1, 1997. We live about a ten minute walk from Fresno State Univ. right across the street from Anne's parents. Richard Kinney and I are still friends. He and his family live in Clovis and our boys are also best buds.
I would love to hear from some old (and getting older all the time) friends. Please call, write or e-mail:

Wunschel, Teresa Sessums - E-mail: beesgold@earthlink.net
You probly all remember my Dad more than myself. He is Dr. J.H. Sessums (Herb) the "Town Dentist" for many years. I am his youngest daughter, Teresa (Sessums) Wunschel.
My husband, Raymond Wunschel, and I are both Aircraft Mechanics. As most of you probly know just prior to what would have been my High School Graduation, after having lived in Bishop since the Second Grade, I joined the US Air Force, in May of 1980. That is where I was originally trained as an Aircraft Mechanic. I travelled a lot to fun places such as Guam and a year tour in Greece. After that I was married for 7+ years. I would rather not discuss that time period except that we spent a year in what was West Germany. A couple years later I divorced (right after my trip to Bishop for an exciting Ten Year Reunion). That was in 1990. I then went back to college to get licensed by the Federal Aviation to work as an Aircraft Mechanic. I went to work for a while with a Commercial Airline. It was a very difficult time, due to the fact that I was a Single Mom. I left and went to work for a different Airlines, which is where I met the man that has now been my husband for almost Eight Wonderful Years!!! We now have five beautiful children (3 girls and 2 boys). We live out in the Country on 4 Acres where we have raised all sorts of farm animals. We love to hunt and fish, yet of course my love for Horses will last forever. I look forward to my 20 Year Reunion this Millenium Year of 2000. When we all said, "Can you imagine how old we will be then..." Well, Now is the "then" we were referring to back at our first "Pep Rally." Look how far we have all gone. Families and Friends Forever. With Love, Teresa "Sessums" Wunschel - Class of 1980
Feel free to e-mail me. For now I must get to sleep, It is 2 AM and we have to extract Honey from our bees tomorrow. Sweet Dreams (Day or Night) to all.

Hi All,
I've been meaning to send an update to the Alumni page for a while now, but things have been very hectic around here. I figured I'd better get this done before we have another reunion.
Just a quick and dirty recap on what I've been doing since HS Graduation. I went to college to become an Architect, but after graduating from El Camino College in Torrance, and not being able to get into Cal Poly SLO because of their 3 year waiting list. I ended up taking classes at the Devry Institute of Technology to get a Degree in Electronics. I landed a job in the Avionics Dept. with Continental Airlines where I worked on repairing Avionics Equipment, including the Flight Recorders ( Flight Data and Cockpit Voice Recorders ). This lasted for about 7 years, until our site was downsized (corporate term for being laid off). I went back to school and got retrained on computers. I spent a year studying about WAN, LAN, Client/Server, etc., and finally ended up getting an MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) certification. Now I do Windows for a living.
I currently work at an eCommerce company configure servers using Windows NT4 and Windows 2000, a little desktop support, LAN/WAN Administration, as well as trying to stay certified on all the new equipment and software that seems to be coming out every month.
My brother, Jim, has also gone through training on computers and is close to getting his MCSE certification. He currently lives in Iowa with his wife Shelley and their two kids Alyson and Austin. They can be reached at mudpmr@aol.com.
I've seen Art Gamboa, but haven't hooked up with him to play any golf in a while. He lives here in Torrance.
I'd like to hear from everyone who I grew up with, and had fun at those tire fires down by the river ... Those were a blast.!!!!!
Well, time for me to go. Take Care, Everyone. Send me an email or two if you 'd like. Many Thanks to the staff who put the Alumni web page together. It's an awesome place to reminisce about our earlier carefree days, huh. Little did we know what we had in store for us ..what a ride ... I should have paid more attention in Mr. Campbell's Civics class.

My husband Peter is a Tenor with the San Francisco Opera Chorus. I've learned to enjoy classical music, but country music is still my favorite.(You can take the girl out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the girl)!!
E-mail me any time. I've kept in touch with Sandi Hanson ,Sandi Hooker and Leslie Brown.
Hench, Leslie (Brown) - E-mail: ljhench@mindspring.com

I just took a trip down memory lane......WOW!!! Time flies doesn't it?! My family and I live in Austin, Tx. and have been here for 11 1/2 yrs. We really love it. My husband Brad and I have been married for almost 19 years now....Yikes! We have 3 kids...........2 daughters...Jennifer is 18 and will graduate from High school in May, 20 years after me! Randi is 17, she is a Jr. this year...she is so much like me it is frightening...I'm sure some of you know what I mean. Our son Jordan is 10 and is in 4th grade. Brad works for Motorola as the Manufacturing manager and does lots of things I don't understand...I do know he gets paid....and that's all that really matters...especially with teen-age girls heading to College. It's great reading about everyone. I look forward to our next reunion, so keep me posted. Happy 2001 to all of you and your families!

Miller, Bruce - E-mail: sickdog234@compuserve.com
After sitting on the bench for many impressive Bronco victories in various sports. I got an engineering degree from University of Nevada, after a couple of years at a JC in Washington state. My timing was great, I graduated right during the Reagan military buildup (they were desperate) and I got a slot in Navy flight school. For eleven years I got to fly around the Navy's vulnerable, or is that venerable? A-6 "Intruder". Living on a ship sucks, so I bailed out and got a job with Southwest Airlines. I am back in Reno, recently married to another Wolfpack graduate, who has yet to realize that she is way too good for me. Life is wonderful!!! Would love to hear from any of you who want to talk about the "good ol' days" of sitting around burning tires and wishing we were grown up. For any 1981 graduates, it is not too early to start thinking about the 20 year reunion (as class president, I think I am responsible?). I don't know if it would be better to plan it around Mule days, when there would be more to do, or have it during an off weekend when lodging... would be easier. My initial ideas are to have a party Friday night that would include people from classes a few years around us, a golf tourney Saturday, followed by a semi-formal dinner dance Saturday night and finally the Sunday picnic at Millpond where we could be amazed at who has reproduced and what they have reproduced. If you have any better ideas (wouldn't be hard) let me know, it is all of our party. You can send inputs to sickdog234@aol.com (Navy callsign), or (775) 853-1751

Ortega, Bob - E-mail: bortega@arthistory.ucsb.edu
I'm quickly working towards 20 years of employment at UC Santa Barbara, where I've served three different departments. I am currently the Business Officer for the History of Art & Architecture Department. Hopefully the state's economy will hold and even prosper so that I can look forward to an early retirement. I then can fully enjoy my many hobbies including hot-rodding in my 1934 Ford Coupe, cycling through our wonderful year-round climate and nature photography, both digitally and .35MM. All a far cry from my initial career goal to utilize my degree from USC in sports marketing and promotions. My wife Terri is also employed by the University with nearly 25 years of service credit. We actually met on the basketball court where she was coaching high school basketball and I had just landed my first job out of college as the sports editor for a small paper. We've been lucky enough to make three trips through the Eastern Sierra and Bishop over the recent summers. While Bishop has changed, it's also still the same. Our children have grown into adults now. Our daughter Jaima is 23 and working on obtaining her realtor's license. She was a high school All-American in volleyball but the sport burned her out by college. Our son Robert is only 11 months younger and still sticking close to home. Amazing how time flies. The last time I checked this site, the class of 1981 was revving up for a 20 year reunion. Now we're a short sprint away from 25.

Parker, Rob - E-mail: rmp517@ptialaska.net
I graduated from BUHS in 1981. For the past 7 years I've lived in Soldotna, Alaska with my wife Shannon (a Montana Girl) and children Caitlin, Donovan and Garrett. After graduating from UC Davis in 1989 (that's right, 8 years of college!) with a DVM degree I went into mixed animal practice in the Antelope Valley. After 2 years and a brain tumor we moved to Alaska.
Information received from Rob Pearce May, 2000 is that Rob Parker has passed away.

My wife of 13 years, Lee Ann, also works for Farm Credit in Arroyo Grande. I know about Jeff Reagon, Rob Toth, Bruce Miller, Rob Parker, Irv Moore, and a few others. My wife of nearly 14 years, Pam, and I live in North Idaho with our two kids Brittany, 16, and Chelsea, 12. Both girls were born while we lived in Inyo County, but have grown up near Coeur d'Alene for the past 11 years. We also have a seven year old grandson (thanks to my step-daughter Jennifer)!
It took awhile, but I got education out of my system after spending time as the Principal at a Tribal School on the Coeur d'Alene Indian reservation. While I miss the kids and the activities, I DO NOT miss the parents or the school boards. I was starting at the school during the time of our 20th reunion, so could not attend. I am looking forward to the 30th in another 5 years.
I currently am the sales manager at Stock Building Supply in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho -- yes, the same large corporation that bought the old Copeland Lumber in Bishop.
The rest of my family has followed us up to Idaho. Mom and Dad and my sister Sherry (84) now live up here, as well.
I will be traveling to Bishop for Thanksgiving weekend (November '07) to visit my grandfather and look around at the old stomping grounds.
Know that all of my fellow alumni have a special place in my heart and my prayers.

Hello Everyone!
So it's here, 2002!
Thought it would never get here, and who really wanted it to? Who wanted to reach that date in time where you look back and realize that 20 years have passed since you graduated from High School? Hmmmm. Still seems like yesterday in some regards and then in others it seems like a lifetime ago.
Here is my latest update:
Still living in Knoxville, TN
Still working at Coca-Cola
Legally still married
Two boys 10 and 8 years of age
A golden retriever
A house in the hills
And a Song in my heart
That's it for now, I hear Mark, June, Jim and some of the gang back in CA are working hard on getting us together for Labor Day weekend. Thanks you guys, I appreciate your works. Hope to see everyone there and be sure to thank everyone on the reunion committee because I didn't list them all. Sincere Regards, Bake.

Living in Sparks with my wife and our 2 sons, Yuan (16) and Robert (15 months). We enjoy visiting Bishop when we can, especicially to catch a Bronco's basketball game. If I could convince my wife of the charms of living in a small town, I'd move back in a heartbeat. We also enjoy hiking and fishing, and my oldest son and I build and fly model airplanes together. I also have a couple old Mopars that I enjoy dumping money into. I found out that Bishop has a car club, so I'm hoping to get active in that. I'd enjoy hearing from any former classmates.

We have been living in Huntington Beach, CA for 14 years now, and happily married to Joe for 8 years. Cameron is now 6 and Caylin 3 1/2. The children are certainly keeping me very busy. Cameron started school this year so I enjoy working in the classroom. We are busy with soccer, ballet and Tae Kwon Do. For me personally I help lead a womens bible study once a week and meet for bunco with a great group of ladies once a month. My children and my family are my life and my greatest blessing so I am only working one evening a week as a marriage and family therapist. However, my training has certainly been helpful over the years!! I have really enjoyed reading about what everyone has been up to. I look forward to our reunion next year.

After graduating from BUHS in '82, I went to LeTourneau College (Texas) for five years and Ohio State University for another 1-1/2 year. Shortly after graduating from OSU, I married Jennifer and we now have four children (each growing quickly).
After college and getting married, we lived in Kennewick, Wahington for a little over ten years. Then from mid-2000 through mid-2003 we lived in Germany. (Unfortunately, during this time, I missed the 20-year reunion.) That was a great experience for the whole family, but after finishing my 3-year job assignment we were ready to return to the US - this time to Lynchburg, VA where we now live.

Hi everyone to the class of 1982. After I graduated from BUHS, I moved down to San Diego and finished my education. I also hung out with alot of other people from Bishop down on the coastal area and had alot of fun getting together or as we used to say partying it up. I met my wife in San Marcos and we have been together ever since. We have been legal for 10 years now. We have two children-Matthew who is 14 and Karen who is 8. We moved back to Bishop and have been here for 10 years now. You can't raise children in a better place. I drive the big trucks and my wife works on her own doing in home care. We have a ski boat which we take down to Klondike (or the mud hole ) as we call it every weekend in the summer time. You couldn't ask for a better life than that. I'm helping out organizing the 20th class reunion. It's going to be fun to see everyone this time around. Feel free to e-mail me at JHINEK@aol.com or write to me .

The Reunion on Labor Day Weekend was simply GREAT! Special thanks to the Hinek's and the many others involved for planning and coordinating all the events. That was a lot of work and I know many people truly appreciated all the efforts.
On a personal note things are changing big time in my life. First of all, I am leaving Intel and starting my own business. I will be taking advantage of the 500,000 swimming pools that are located in the Phoenix Metro area by offering sales, service and repairs. Second, it's looking like the single life and I will be hooking up. Last, the real big change, my new email address is: thunking1@yahoo.com
Again,
Thanks to all who made the REUNION memorable

I actually left for McAllen, Texas in February of 1981 and have been here since. McAllen is 12 miles north of Mexico directly south of San Antonio. I am a 14 year veteran of the City of McAllen Fire Department. I am married to Patti and we have three daughters Megan (10), Tori (7) and Hannah (4) and we have an adopted teenager Erika (16). We spend our spare time working with the youth at the Church. I would like to be kept advised of any reunions as we come to California every few years! I long for the tall pines of the Sierra Nevada!

Hi! I'm alive and well in the mountains just west of Denver, CO. I'm currently a Windows software developer and project manager for Orca Software. I've been married for the last 6 years to my wife Susan and we have a beautiful, 18-month-old daughter, Rebecca Lynne. I play drums in a local rock band, enjoy backpacking and photography, and still collect glass insulators. I'm a die-hard Bronco fan and enjoy writing computer shareware games "on the side". We visit Bishop as much as we can over the years, since I have family still living there. Drop me some email sometime.

After graduation, I joined the Air Force and served for over eight years as an Information Systems Specialist. Afterwards, I lived in Flagstaff, AZ for a short time, and then I moved to my current home, San Diego, CA.
In San Diego, I have worked on several network and systems engineering contracts, most supporting the Navy. For a while, I "moonlighted" as a bassist in a successful local band. Around the same time, I also started attending college at night, and I finally graduated with a Master of Science in Computer Information Systems in June 2002.
Somehow, in between working all day, going to school at night, and playing in a band on the weekends, I met the woman of my dreams. We got married in August 2001.
I had a blast at our 20-year reunion. Driving around Bishop and the surrounding area brought back lots of great memories. I am looking forward to our next reunion!

Laughon, Barbara (Ferry) - E-mail: barb@paws2purr.com
I graduated from the University of Nevada-Reno with a degree in Journalism in 1987. I returned to Bishop that same year and began working at The Inyo Register newspaper as a reporter. By 1992, I was promoted to Editor and by 1999, I was serving as both the General Manager and Managing Editor. I always loved Small Town Journalism and all that comes with it – the deadlines, the delicate fact-digging and the occasional drudgery. But after 15 years – 24 if you count my "early" days there – I called it quits. I just wasn't cut out to take direction from the "corporate" guys who bought the paper in 2000.
In mid-July 2002, the legendary wilderness photographer and mountaineer Galen Rowell called me. He and his wife Barbara had relocated their photography business and gallery to Bishop the year before. Galen was looking for a personal assistant and wanted to know if I was interested. It took me about two seconds to say yes.
Tragically, I never got the chance to work with Galen and Barbara. They died Aug. 11, 2002 as the result of a small airplane crash about a mile south of the Bishop Airport. Through some miracle, I was still given the chance to work at Galen and Barbara's business, Mountain Light Photography. I handle image licensing, press relations, ad design and anything else thrown my way. I thank God every day for the opportunity to work at Mountain Light – it's an amazing place with an equally amazing staff. If you are in town, Mountain Light is located on the southeast corner of Main and Line streets in the historic Bank Building. Please stop in, enjoy the Rowells' legacy and say hello.
I've been married to Paul Laughon of the La Casita Mexican restaurant fame since 1992. We have no children – just one cantankerous tabby cat named Nikky. I am currently the President of the Bishop Mule Days Committee and Vice President of the Bishop Chamber of Commerce. Between work and community service, we stay pretty busy.
Here's looking forward to our next reunion! Cheers!

Lived in Idaho the past 8 years where I was a foreman for a large construction company traveling around the state on many job sites. June of 2000 I moved to Provo, Utah where I am building custom homes, presently working on a 32,000 sq.ft. home on the Wasatch Front.

I have been married for 12 years now and my kids are 10 (Cody) and 5 (Shilo) and great, but I know see why my parents acted so strange, I made them that way. So So fabulous to see all of you again this past summer.
What a fun party we had on Labor Day... Greg Kerrick summed it up right.. Thank you to all who made our reunion a memorable experience. If only we had more time...

My awesome boys Aaron and Jacob, which some of you met are now 15 and 13. Between Football, Wrestling, Brain Bowl, Drama and listening to their music from their own personal guitar and drums... President of Assent Outdoor Media Group, a public relations, marketing and publishing firm located in Lubbock, Texas. We publish guidebooks and websites devoted to outdoor recreation and help small businesses market themselves. One of our popular websites is easternsierrafishing.com, a weekly look at fishing in the Eastern Sierra. I've been in Lubbock since 1988, when I arrived to read the news on the local CBS affiliate. I should have migrated to another market, but I became a news director and then a public relations manager at Texas Tech University, and well, I'm still here. I have four great kids, a wife Darla (we're separated), a dog and a cat. I travel back to Bishop as often as I can and usually end up fishing (South Lake) or hiking (Buttermilk) or just marveling at the fact that nothing seems to change in Bishop, except maybe the location of the newest K-Mart
Write me if you care to and let me know what you're up to.

And of course there are all those school activities.
Look forward to seeing everyone at the 20th reunion.

I'm still living in Cheyenne, Wyoming, But no longer in the ranching business. My exwife got the ranch when we divorced. I am now working for Sydran Services as a operations consultant for Chili's Restaurants. It's a big change from ranching, but at least it smells better. Over the last year I spent three months in Rapid City SD. opening a new Chili's and then ten months in Omaha NE. training new managers.
I spend most of my free time with my daughter Rosie (4). She loves to go fishing, sad thing is she catches more fish then I do.

I'm currently working part-time for the City of Bishop and am also serving on the Bishop Elementary School Board, while trying to juggle several other volunteer activities. I still sing, mostly in church and in the Community Choir although I've pretty much given up on the idea of winning a Grammy.

I am living in Shell Beach, California with my husband and two daughters. Abby is 7 and is in second grade. Emma is 4. I work three days a week for Caltrans. I graduated from Cal Poly with a Civil Engineering degree and was lucky to get a job in San Luis Obispo after graduation. My husband is also an engineer with Caltrans.
My life is filled with the daily activities of keeping house plus working in Abby's classroom, taking Emma to dance class and walks with our golden retriever, Daisy . Can you tell that I love a simple life? We come back "home" several times a year. My brother, Mark and his family are in Bishop. My parents are also still there-thank goodness. I will always miss the changing of the seasons. For those of you unfamiliar with the Central Coast, it is incredibly and sometimes, unfortunately, very mild. So coming back to Bishop in the winter is one of my favorite things to do. The kids love to go up to Bishop Creek and play in the snow.
I am lucky to work with several alum's. David Silberberger, Mike Kruger and Debbie (Nakken) Applebaum all are Civil Engineers working for Caltrans in San Luis Obispo. I keep in touch with Janet (Schain) Thomson, who is in Bishop. Linda (Rixey) Paulson and I get together to catch up once a year when her husband is in town playing in the Straight Down golf tournament. She has two beautiful boys. I am looking forward to seeing all our classmates this summer at our 20 year reunion.

It's sure fun reading this alumni page, brings back alot of fun memories. Well after graduation I lived in Bishop for a few years running the local ambulance. I moved to Santa Rosa where I attended school and worked in Petaluma. I had enough of the city life and wanted to find a place more like home (Bishop). So now I am a Police Officer in Sonora. I have been here for the last 7 years and I just love it (almost as much as Bishop). I have a picture on the city's web site at www.sonoraca.com/spd look under the traffic section. In 1995 I was involved in a shooting and I was just amazed at the mail I received from all my friends in Bishop and I just wanted to thank everybody for their letters and support. it really meant alot Well everything is back to normal and I am back to work. I run into people from Bishop all the time. In case anybody wants to know, last summer I ran into Sean Lays, he didn't graduate with us, but was in our class. He was driving truck and flagged me down in Sonora looking for directions. At first he didn't recognize me, it sure scared the heck out of him when I knew who he was. I sure would like to hear from any of my friends or just anybody who wants to email. So don't be shy!!

After passing the CPA exam and graduating from UCSB in 1987 (BA, Business Economics; yes, I got the order backwards), I joined Price Waterhouse in LA, working exclusively with local, regional and global financial institutions ('Joe's Bank and Body Shop' to Great Western Bank to Union Bank of Switzerland). Eventually some consulting to the Fed's in relation to failed S&L's, including working with the lawyers trying Keating and his crowd at Lincoln Savings. I lived in Hayward briefly trying to save a friend's manufacturing company, to no good end other than the incredible experience of actually running a company, troubled or otherwise. PW called as I was looking for a place to land, and a year later they asked me if I would like to do a tour in Brazil (no, no one ever mentioned the work "exile"). A quick 'yes', a 12 hour flight and seemingly a blink of the eye, and 5 years had past. My Bishop High friends won't believe it, but I was speaking Portuguese after that blink. Working to the exclusion of everything else, I decided to quit and spend some time fishing the lower Rock Creek with my dad, getting some new golf clubs, and then spending a month visiting friends and emptying wine and grappa bottles in Italy, Switzerland, Germany and, ultimately, the Netherlands.
In any event, the PwC people found me and talked me into coming back to the firm, but in the land of cheese and wooden shoes! Two years here and I have decided that consulting ain't the same as doing it yourself. If anyone knows of a company looking for a CFO-European Operations, let me know. We have only recently come to appreciate driving to Paris for the weekend, the one-hour flight to London, and the odd, pastoral weekend in the Champagne region (we have found some great Champagne houses, if anyone's planning a celebration . . . ), so we would like to hang around Western Europe for awhile, before heading to the States, or Asia, or God-know's-where. Besides, my wine tasting parties have quite a following here!
Yes, if you were paying attention, 'I' am now a 'we'. Marli, my ex-secretary, best friend and favorite person to be with, moved from Brazil to Holland at the beginning of the year and has agreed to marry me (in two weeks, August 24, 2000, on the beach in St Thomas assuming I can keep her from reaching sobriety before the boat lands - no guns were involved at any time during this process).

How the hell are you!!! After graduation, I spent 2 years learning how to be a mechanic on diesel trucks. I then spent the next 13 years running and repairing concrete pumping equipment. I got the chance to do a lot of the concrete work on the high rise buildings in Los Angeles. I have traveled to almost every state, Mexico and Canada repairing and teaching people how to run these machines. I recently got tired of this industry and California and moved with my now wife Shelley and her two kids to Perry, Iowa. I returned to school and have recently earned my MCSE ( Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer ) certification. I work as a hydraulic specialist/network administrator in Des Moines. Shelley and I were married in August of last year with none other than Tim Dunlap as my best man. Shelley works for an internet job listing agency. It is great to see everyone on the website. Wow, almost 20 years later - I've now lived away from Bishop longer than I lived there. Lots has happened in that time! I attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo for almost 6 years, graduating in Industrial Technology in 1989. Moved to Sacramento for a job at the huge Japanese company NEC. Got married to my college girlfriend who then two years later ran off with another guy and sued/divorced me for just about everything I owned. Had a couple of dogs - yellow labs - one died and I lost the other one in the divorce. I sold my house at a huge loss, property values had plummeted because a nearby military base closed down. I decided that I'd had enough of Sacramento and moved back to San Luis Obispo!
Things are going much better now, I certainly have no regrets about coming back. I feel very much at home in SLO. I bought a cool old house that's a few bocks from downtown four years ago. I grow a big organic garden each year. Cooking continues to be one of my biggest hobbies, seems like I'm always having people over to eat. For 10 years now I've put on an annual fish taco party for Cinco de Mayo, fed about 90 friends this year! I'm involved with a couple of great organizations - Burning Man (official site http://www.burningman.com which is a weird and wonderful festival out in the middle of Nevada each summer. Some pictures I took there. (http://images.burningman.com/index.cgi?q_keyword=&q_year=&q_category=&q_photog=burningboris&go.x=6&go.y=9) I'm also involved with SLO's Mardis Gras group, which puts on a big celebration each year.
For a job I'm the Information Technology manager for a sunglass manufacturer here in SLO. We make the big goofy sunglasses that old people wear after eye surgery. (our site: www.dioptics.com ) Weird product but we sell tons of them.
Travel continues to be important to me also, at last count I had visited about 20 foreign countries, some multiple times. I've been to Australia three times, to visit Mike Allen and Zoe Little. Most recently I spent two weeks on the beach in St. Martin, in the Caribbean. In 2000 I went to Australia for the Olympics then continued on to Bali for a week. I make it back to Bishop once in a while to visit my surrogate parents Eve and Jim Allen, my real ones died in 1986 (mom) and 1997 (dad.)
I'm still single at this point. Haven't found a new soulmate yet...
Feel free to drop me a line, I always enjoy connecting with Bishop people!

Unlike my brother, who traveled the world only to end up in the Garden State (New Jersey), I simply traveled California only to return to good ol' Bishop. After packing up my little yellow car, I headed off to Sacramento where I spent four years as a Hornet at Sac State. In what many of you may take as a surprising move, I headed off to law school after graduation - also in Sacramento. While in law school I met my husband, Gerard. An Easterner who thought all Californians surfed, I introduced him to the Eastern Sierra. Five years after graduating (during which time we lived in the Bay Area), I finally convinced him that Bishop was the place for us. So, in the fall of 1995, with three dogs in tow, we moved in with my parents (Frank & Virginia were thrilled!) Gerard immediately hung his shingle and I went to work for Inyo County. Yes, we did move out of my parents' house and onto a ranch in Hammil Valley. We have two sons, Frankie, 4, and Joey, 2. They are both a hand full and causing us to rethink the Hammil Valley thing (20 miles is quite a commute when you live in Bishop!) Hoping to spend more time with the boys, in January 2000 we went into practice together and are now handling both public defender and private cases (of course, I have no more free time then when I was with the County). He is primarily a criminal defense lawyer and I focus on civil work. Our public defender cases have caused many heated dinner conversations with my dad, who retired from the Police Department in 1995 but is still a cop at heart. I'm sure he loves the fact that his daughter and son-in-law are defending the very guys he used to arrest!
We still see some of our alum - a few in court who I'd prefer not to list, and others on a more social basis such as Gerry (Mathieu) Tanksley, Stephanie (Gartin) Hoover and Mike and Zoe Allen. Should anyone get to town, look us up. Our office is above the Pyrenees and our phone is 873-6755.

I moved to the Sacramento area right after high school and went to college for a short time. In 1988 I married Roger Holaday (Class of 83) ( and better known as Doc) anyway we have 3 children, Casey (in our hearts), Torey 7 and Teigan born in Feb of 98. I work for Blue Shield of California and Roger is a plumber. We live in Galt, California which is 30 minutes south of Sacramento. We moved here in 1988, it is a small town like Bishop (but no mountains) which we miss very much. When Roger is finished with his apprenticeship program we want to move closer to Gardnerville NV, which is where my parents are.
We sure do miss the Class of 83. Anybody out there can email me.
I would sure like to find Lisa Ninke (Smith)????

To all that forgot about me, here's what I've been up to since my parents whisked me away way back in 1977.......
I moved to Carson City, Nevada where I graduated from Carson High in 1982 and after many years and several careers, I decided to enter brewing school and accept an apprenticeship degree in brewing sciences from the American Brewer's Guild in Davis, California. After the apprenticeship I worked as the Assistant Brewer at Great Basin Brewing Co. in Sparks, Nevada for a couple of years until I assumed the role of Head Brewer at the Bluewater Brewing Co. in Tahoe City, California. In the spring of 1998, I became the Brewmaster at Third Street Aleworks, a brewpub located in Santa Rosa, California, right in the heart of Sonoma county wine country. I'm responsible for all brewing production and, I must say, that I really love my work.
My mom (Leah) and sis (Jenni) still reside in Carson City , as well as my dad (Jim), who are all well and happy.
As for the rest of the story;
Married once, divorced once, kidless and making beer lovers all across Northern California very happy. I make it to Mammoth at least once a year for the Blues-a-palooza Beerfest in August/September and I still head down to Bishop ever so often to play 18 at the country club.
If anyone wants to contact me or just come have a couple of pints, I can be found at

Hi to all from Orange County. What fun it is to read about the alumni who have been willing to share a bit about there lives since graduating from good old Bishop High. Wow, what a variety of stories, we all have done so many interesting things with our lives so far. Just think of the stories we'll have to tell twenty years from now. I can't wait. As for me, I have been married 12 years to a wonderful man, Larry Pace. We have three children, a 10 year old girl, Elle, a six year old boy, Garrett and a 2 year old boy, Hunter. We own a physical therapy and sports training clinic in Orange Park Acres, a beautiful horse community in Orange, California. I do nutritional counseling through the clinic, and teach private art lessons out of our home.
Six months after our son Hunter was born, I started training for triathlons. After six years as a spectator, it was time for me to give it a go. Every year we look forward to spending Labor Day in Bishop. It is so nice to escape the busy life and relax in such a beautiful place. Not to mention, eat great food, prepared by none other than my dad. My parents are still in Bishop enjoying their retirement. My dad is keeping busy with projects here and there, my mom is too. They both miss the occasional visits they would get at the deli from some of you, and hearing about all the things you were doing. I'm sure they would love to hear from those of you. That's it from me. Hope to see you all at the reunion, I'm assuming that we will be having one this year.
Until then, stay happy.

It's hard to believe that our 20-year high school graduation anniversary is almost upon us. How time flies when you're having fun! I'm still in LB (Long Beach, CA) since moving here after our high school graduation. It's close enough that I am able to visit Bishop about ten times each year on my way to Mammoth or some other part of the Sierra Nevada. Since 1988, I've been working to protect the California coast as a staff member of the California Coastal Commission. In 1998 I married a beautiful Librarian, Diane Olivo. Our first child, Luke, was born in October of 2000. I wish you all the best. See you at Mammoth!

Well...after a lifelong dream of becoming a nurse and after years in nurse's training, I decided this wasn't what I really wanted, (okay, so I still don't know) but I did love working for the hospital and so the medical records department took me in and I learned medical coding/transcription, grew restless, moved to Flagstaff, Arizona and was trained in the cardiology department. And now, after all that, I have the very best of everything - I still work for the hospital as a medical transcriptionist from my home where my extremely busy and very beautiful family is; my husband Horacio (old, like me), Sarah (16), Eli (15), Alysa (11), and Julian (6). The two oldest children were wedding presents from my husband. We are dedicated to camping, dancing, music (we all play something) and of course, city league softball. (Go DIAMONDBACKS!!) I still golf, swim and even bat the ball around the court once in a while. I'm one of the crazy people who actually likes cooking, gardening, and home improvement. Would like to hear from people....I really miss the tennis team!

I volunteer several days a week at our neighborhood school and try to remember what it was like to be in elementary school. Those memories include many of you. We live in a small town 70 miles south of Nashville, TN (not as small as Bishop). We really like it hear, but my husband is in the process of transferring. We could be in Colorado soon. Aloha everyone,
Great to see this site!!! Looks like I'll be seeing Paul Schat on the beach? After leaving Bishop in 1982 I attended High School in Fullerton (Southern California). After High School I went across the street to Cal State Fullerton where I competed in wrestling and studied P.E. (I always wanted to be like Jack Crowther when I grew up). While I was in College I started surfing. Seven years in Southern California was enough and I wanted to get back to the country so I moved to The North Shore. Just last year we got our first traffic light. After arriving here in Hawaii in 1989 I completed my teaching certificate at B.Y.U. Hawaii.
I married a beautiful Hula Dancer from Fiji. We have 4 kids, 3 boys and a girl, ages 11, 10, 9 and 3. We live between Sunset Beach and Pipeline and try to surf as much as possible. If you are in the neighborhood maybe I can pull you into some waves on the jetski? I miss the mountains and the cold weather and always have fond memories of my hometown.

My husband and I recently celebrated our son's 4th birthday and our daughter's 1st birthday. The past year has flown by between work -- I am a real estate attorney -- and keeping up with the kids. Drove across the country from Toronto back to home (Irvine, California) after getting stuck in Toronto on Sept. 11th. My business companion and I made it back home in record time -- 2 1/2 days. The trip was accelerated by the fact that because there were so many people on the road travelling across the country while flights were grounded, hotel rooms were difficult to find. Started painting again and still drawing in my spare time, mostly portrait work these days. I always enjoy hearing from classmates, and my e-mail address has recently changed to cschuk@coxcastle.com

Glad to find this page. The past 15 years have been busy moving back and forth across the country from California to Colorado, Kansas, and Michigan. We currently live in a VERY small town in Michigan that makes Bishop look downright metropolitan. Our family is moving back to Kansas City soon.
I married my husband David back in '88 and at the time began an instant family with a new 3 year old son Kyle and 1 year old daughter Janalyn. Since then we added McKenna '96 and Connor '97. Quite hard to believe how much time has gone by, since I remember many of you quite clearly. Now Kyle is getting his Driver's License this summer and I'll have two kids in High School this fall.

thing since I travel to Europe a lot with my husband. My husband and I just moved
back to California after being in Colorado for a while. After high school I moved to
Lancaster where I lived for 9 years. Then we were transferred to Colorado Springs,
Colorado. We have now been transferred to Fresno, California. It's not the place of
choice, but I guess its home for now. I am a graduate of University of Colorado @
Boulder and Fresno State University. I am a homemaker and thats how my husband likes
it. I have a dog and a cat and sometimes not enough time for them. We are into
waterskiing, drag racing, vacationing around the globe. I miss everyone from high
school, and hope to here from some of you soon! Has anyone seen Kim Brooks (Cleland)?

After stopovers in L.A., Sacramento and Portland, I moved to Washington, D.C. in 1994 where I assumed a position with Tower Records/Video/Books as Mid-Atlantic Books Regional Manager. My region extended at one time from Philadelphia to the Washington metro area, stores in Atlanta, New Orleans and (believe it or not) Mexico City. The travel and career challenges were incredible, but after three years I realized I could no longer develop at the pace I desired. So, in October of '97, I quit my job to pursue my life-long dream of writing full-time. A published poet, I have been concentrating on short fiction and some non-fiction and have, by all reckoning, never been happier.
Also, I always thought my cousin Paul Schat would be the one helping me out with my retirement....

We have 5 kids all together, 4 girls and a boy, they are 22, 20, 12, 11 & 8 and we also have a grandson that just turned one. My husband is a logger and President of Wampler Logging. To keep it in the family, I too work for Wampler Logging in the office with my Mother-In-Law.(She is the real boss). I also have become very involved in the local Rodeo that we have every year, it keeps me busier than my kids or job, but I love every minute of it. Anyway, I get back to Bishop at least once a year to see mom and get to see a few of our classmates but would like to hear from some more.

I was so happy to see so many BUHS alumni's listed on this web page... I have literally have lost touch with everyone.. I missed our ten year reunion due to my overwhelming determination to exceed in a career... (highly recommend that no one miss their reunions, I sincerely regret doing so!)
For the past four years, I have been residing in Georgia. I am a Operations Manager for a mortgage finance company and have been in the finance business for 12 glorious years.. Not much more to add to that..no kids or pets... and I'm still an Adams!!......

Hello! hehehee well, it's been a long strange trip, and I have lost contact with everyone except Todd Walters. After graduation I joined the Air Force and wandered the planet for 6 years (to include OH lucky me... Desert Storm). When I got out I found myself in Merced California working for E & J Gallo Winery (bad move!).. That torture endured for aprox 3 years when POP! my head emerged from darkness and I decided to go to school @ age 26! Well Flash forward to now:--->I teach fifth grade in a small ag-community outside of Merced (Winton, Ca.) and I'm having a blast! I no longer race bicycles -> a gnarly bout with cancer (defeated) sidelined that career, but I'm enjoying life w/ loving wife Andrea (of 10 years!) and our bloodhound Molly. All sorts of hobbies and interests, but travel and a good cigar rank among my favorites! Would love to hear from anyone who actually remembers me...LOL take care and well wishes to you all.

Hey Class of '85 ! I was happy to find a webpage with many of your stories and addresses !
As many of you know, I entered the US Navy after graduating. I spent not quite 9 years as a "Navy Nuke" on the submarine USS Pintado out of San Diego. My final 4 years were spent as a prototype instructor in Idaho Falls, ID. I got out in May, 1994. I then spent 7 years as a Control Room Operator at the Wabash River Gasification Plant in Terre Haute, IN. Just 6 months ago, I was offered a Control Room Operator position with Duke Energy at a new Cogeneration Power Plant in Marietta, OH. Notice that I keep moving in wrong direction !
I've been married to a my wonderful redheaded bride, Michelle, for 14 years; no children - just 4 Chinese Shar Pei dogs. I still live for backpacking and flyfishing every summer. I miss Bishop terribly. I made a backpacking trip out of there in June, 1990, and ran into Jeff Arnold on the trail above North Lake. Hey folks, drop me a line and tell Todd (Walters) and Erik (Seversen) that I'm looking for them.

Well, I feel the need to update my location and job activity. I have indeed made my way back to Bishop to pursue my photography and writing. I can't imagine leaving here again. I am working part time for Inyo-Mono Transit driving a bus around town while I devote the rest of my waking hours to my photography and writing. My wife Paula, an avid mountain biker, drives a semi with double trailers to LA and back for Motor Cargo five nights a week. I am continuing to be published on a somewhat regular basis, however my goal now is to photograph intensely for the next year or two to build my photo files. Once I have several thousand images in my files I will be in a better
